The maximum heart rate for a 35-year-old person is about 185 bpm.

The most common heart rate formula is:

#"Max" = "220 - Age" = "(185 ± 12) bpm"#

The ± numbers are standard deviations from the mean.

That means that about two-thirds of the 35-year-old persons would have a maximum heart rate between 173 bpm and 198 bpm.

About one-sixth of individuals will have a maximum heart rate below 173 bpm, and one-sixth will have a maximum heart rate above 198 bpm.

Bottom line: Do your own check.

If your target exercise heart rate is 80 % of max, measure your own heart rate during exercise.

If it is between 138 bpm and 158 bpm, you are within the active target range.
