The cultivation of Corn had spread all the way to South Africa hundreds of years before the European settlers reached there. Potatoes became the principal food crop of Ireland. Italian cooking adapted the tomato to the extent that the Romans would not recognize the cuisine.

The Americas quickly adapted to the horse as means of transportation. Chickens and cattle became important food sources.
There were few domestic animals in the Americas before the Columbian Exchange.

There was also the exchange of diseases between the two cultures.
