The slope is the difference of the y values divided by the difference of the x values

Given these points (-40.34, 5.5) and (0.34, 3.6)

The first y value (y_1) is 5.5

The second y value (y_2) is 3.6

The first x value (x_1) is -40.34

The second x value (x_2) is 0.34

m=(Delta y)/(Delta x)=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

color(white)m=(3.6-5.5)/(0.34--40.34)

color(white)m~~-0.0467
