When a mass of $370 g$ is suspended from a spring,and due to that it is strectched by $x = 8.5 c m$,we can say,at that point,the force($F$) which has caused this much deformity to the spring by increasing its length,is related to its spring constant as follows,

$F = K x$ (where, $K$ is the spring constant)

Here, $F = m g$

So, $m g = K x$

or, $K = \frac{m g}{x} = \frac{370 \cdot 980}{8.5} = 42.65 \cdot {10}^{3}$dyne/cm
