When a mass of #370 g# is suspended from a spring,and due to that it is strectched by #x=8.5 cm#,we can say,at that point,the force(#F#) which has caused this much deformity to the spring by increasing its length,is related to its spring constant as follows,

#F=Kx# (where, #K# is the spring constant)

Here, #F= mg#

So, #mg=Kx#

or, #K=(mg)/x = (370*980)/8.5 =42.65*10^3 #dyne/cm
