Peripheral vascular occlusive disease in the narrowing of arteries other than those that supply the heart and brain.

Explanation:

Peripheral vascular occlusive disease is also known as peripheral artery disease (PAD).

In those with intermittent claudication ( pain while walking, which resolves with rest) from PAD, stopping smoking and supervised exercise therapy improves outcomes. Medications including statins, ACE inhibitors, and cilatozol may also help. Aspirin is usually recommended in those with more significant disease. Procedures used to treat the disease include bypass grafting, angioplasty, and atherectomy.

Depending upon the severity of the disease, the following life style changes can be followed to treat PAD.
1) smoking cessation
2) management of diabetes
3) management of hypertension
4) management of high cholesterol and medication with anti platelet drugs, which reduce clot formation and cholesterol levels, can help with disease progression.
5) regular exercise.
