What kind of object transmits almost all of the light that strikes it?

A transparent one.

Explanation:

When light hits an object there are several possibilities it can (i) reflect (e.g. polished metals or partially reflect as in coloured opaque objects) (ii) be absorbed (e.g. coal) (iii) be transmitted (e.g. window glass)

The third possibility also allows for it to be bent (called refraction e.g. in toilet windows) or partially absorbed (so it becomes dimmer if all frequencies diminish equally (e.g. smoked glass) or changes colour if some colours are preferentially absorbed (e.g. wine bottles.))

Hope this helps!
