Explanation:
The Soviets deployed missiles on Cuba which brought many American cities within their range. President Kennedy ordered a naval blockade and demanded the missiles be withdrawn. At first the Soviet Premier Nikita Khruschev refused, but as the real threat of nuclear war loomed he backed down. After this renewed efforts were made to ease Cold War tensions.
