Bronchioles continue to divide and subdivide in the lungs. These bronchioles are finally opened into a multitude of tiny air pockets that are known as Alveoli or Air sacs.

Alveoli are microscopic single layered structures containing rich network of capillaries on them. These capillaries provide excellent site for gaseous exchange. Alveoli look like clusters of grapes.
