What are your opinions on the Socratic app?

I would love to try it but it requires me to add three friends for some unknown reason!

Explanation:

I'm very impressed by the approach you're taking here at Socratic, and as an educator I was ready to become an advocate for you with my students. However the current version of the app requires access to my contacts as well as my phone number, and then insists that I "add" three friends from my contacts before I can use the app. No information is given as to what adding friends even means - are they going to get a text from me or otherwise get spammed?

There is absolutely no way I can even use this myself much less recommend it to my students. Which is a real shame since it looks like you are doing a huge job and awesome work but hiding it behind an thin but impenetrable wall of ill-conceived enforced sociability.

Here on Socrates we can ask any question related to any subject and we get there answers within an hour or so hence according to me this app is really very useful for learning
