In a leaf in between the upper epidermis and lower epidermis a large number of parenchyma are arranged which can be viewed in the Transverse Section of a leaf.

Parenchyma towards the upper epiderms are called palisade parenchyma and the parenchyma towards the lower epidermis are called spongy parenchyma. Chloroplasts are present in these Parenchyma.
