Interphase is the time interval between mitosis cycles. There are actually 3 phases in interphase (and one specialized phase that occurs sometimes).

  1. G1. In this phase, the cell grows. It makes lots of proteins to increase the cell matter, and ribosomes, which make the proteins.
  2. S (Sythesis). In this phase, the cell copies it's DNA in preparation for mitosis.
  3. G2. In the third phase, the cell copies all of it's organelles and makes the final necessary proteins to prepare for division.

Then the cells goes into M, Mitosis.
