To overthrow the communistic government of Cuba.

Explanation:

A group of expatriate Cubans with the support of the CIA landed at the Bay of Pigs in Cuba. Their hope was that their invasion would spark an island wide rebellion against the oppressive Communist rule.

The invasions failed completely. The support from the US was not as much as the rebels expected because of international laws and politics. The island wide rebellion did not happen, the people that disliked the communistic government were either too scared to rebel, not angry enough, or doubted that there was any hope the rebellion could be successful.

The invasion was crushed almost immediately. The security of the rebels was weak. The Cuban government had word of the invasion and meet the invasion with overwheeling force.

The purpose of over throwing the Communistic government was not achieved, leaving decades of distrust between Cuba's government and the United States government.
