A draw, the treaty had no boundary changes. With Napoleon's defeat the causes of the war disappeared.

Oddly, many people felt good after the war. A spirit of optimism reigned on both sides. The British did not block American expansion to the west. Relations between the U.S. and the Canadian Colonies improved. There were no notable armed conflicts till after the Civil War when armed Irish Americans attempted to invade Canada but fail to win support on either side of the Border.

First Nations people lost out the most and territorial promises to them vanished. Britain never again supported Native peoples against the Americans. A large number of slaves escaped from the U.S. and were settled mostly in Nova Scotia. Britain compensated the U.S. for the loss.
