What weather does a warm front typically bring?

Poor weather ahead of the warm front and clearing warm weather behind it.

Explanation:

As the cold air retreats and is replaced by warm air, the warm air will over run the cold air due to the density. The warm air will rise, and therefore it will cool. Once it has cooled to the dew point cloud forms and then precipitation can occur. Depending on how cold the air underneath the warm air is, you can get freezing rain or snow. Once your in the warm sector (behind the warm front) you generally get warmer air that is clearer, but depending on how warm and moist that air is you can get thunderstorms developing.

If you look at the illustration above you will see the sorts of clouds you get ahead of a warm front. Nimbostratus is a stable cloud with long term precipitation. As you head further ahead there is less and less precipitation. Once you are in the Cirrostratus/Cirrus area there is no more precipitation.
