The Schiff base (or imine/aldimine) is the condensation product, and results from the attack of the nucleophilic amine function on the electrophilic carbonyl, i.e.:

#PhCH_2NH_2 + H(O=C)(CH_2)_6CH_3 rarr + (PhCH_2N=CH)(CH_2)_6CH_3+H_2O#

Is this equation balanced?

These reactions are usually very facile, but the products are thermally sensitive.
