It was transfered after the Mexican-American War(1846-1848)

Explanation:

The United States conquered one third of Mexico's territory in the late 1840s though 15 million dollars were paid for the annexation. The annexed territory included most of what is known as the South West (California, Arizona, Nevada, most of New Mexico, Utah, part of Oregon and Wyoming and half of Colorado).
