All energy involved in weather comes from the sun initially. Often this energy has to warm the Earth before that energy is released as heat into the atmosphere, but the energy originally came from the sun.
Wind is the movement of air from an area of high pressure to low pressure, as the atmosphere tries to establish equilibrium. The cause of the pressure differences is due to unequal heating of the Earth. Areas of the Earth that are heated more have higher pressure, and cooler air has lower pressure.
