Where in the cell does the second stage of respiration take place?

1 Answer

In between the mitochondrial membranes.

Explanation:

The first stage of aerobic respiration is glycolysis. The second
stage is the formation of Acetyl Co A. The second stage is completed in the mitochondrial membranes.
The pyruvate molecules are oxidized to carbon dioxide and 2 carbon acetyl group. Carbon dioxide molecule is released. The 2 carbon acetyl is bound with Co enzyme A and enters to mitochondrial matrix.
In prokaryotes, respiration is completed, where enzymes are found. Thank you
