Hydrogen Bonds are not bonds. They are "through space electrostatic interactions" - a special kind of "dipole-dipole" interaction.

Explanation:

A chemical bond is like an arm....whereas a Hydrogen Bond (not a bond) is like 2 people holding hands.

Arms are really hard to pull off the body, but two people holding hands can be separated easily (by tackling one of them, for example....but tackling wouldn't remove an arm).

So, covalent bonds are much stronger than hydrogen bonds.

Covalent bonds are also shorter....about 2x shorter for C-H (depends on which atoms are bonding).
