Carl Linnaeus is known as the father of modern taxonomy.

Carl Linnaeus ( 23 May 1707 to 10 Jan 1778 ) was a Swedish botanist, physician and zoologist, who formalised the modern system of naming organisms called binomial nomenclature.

He is also considered as one of the founders of modern ecology.
His manuscript Systema Naturae , described a new system for classifying plants and was published in 1735 .
