If we don't record the sound information that we want to hear later, it will be lost forever as a result of diffusion. So to preserve it, we can record the data using a recorder or a camera, and then we can view the footage later, so that we can listen to the sound that we have captured.

A usage of this might be to record music. When you want to hear your recording after you have finished singing, you can just use the recorder, and it'll play all the sound that it has recorded over a certain period of time.
