The Second Continental Congress was called together in 1775 following the first continental congress.

The Second Continental Congress first met in the spring of 1775. The Second Continental Congress, now having citizens willing to fight for their independence, managed the war effort, and moved gradually towards the finish line, independence. It was in this Congress that the Declaration of Independence was written and then subsequently adopted.
