Erosion and the Economic impact of many crop failures.

Explanation:

North America was made up of many small towns that were dependent on the farms around them. Farming techniques of the 1920 dried out the soil and let the wind blow it away. Resulting crop failures bankrupted many farms and farmers migrated. The small towns and businesses also failed and those people migrated away.
