Although the Zulus had some notable successes, British fire power caused an unsustainable causalities for the tribe. The Battle of Ulundi was a decisive defeat and King Cetshwayo was captured.

Explanation:

The Battle of Isandlwana was an early victory for the Zulu but they were unable to sustain the momentum. A series of minor defeats, strong British re-enforcements, and a more cautious British advance led to a victory at Ulundi. King Cetshwayo's subsequent capture ended the war and broke the Zulu power.

The Battle of Rouke's drift led to a large number of Victoria Crosses (11) being awarded even though it was a fairly minor engagement.

A movie was made of the Battle starring Micheal Caine and is worth watching but has inaccuracies in detail.
