Due to higher blood pressure in the arteries.
Explanation:
The arteries have to carry the blood from the ventricles to the rest of the body and a higher pressure is needed for the transport of blood, so due to stronger contraction of the ventricles, a comparatively higher pressure is developed in the arteries which may cause their rupture. A thick layer of muscles prevents that from happening.
