Why do cells break down sugars?

Cause breakdown of sugars which Is commonly or mostly glucose, which produces #CO_2 , H_2O and O_2# and energy. This energy is utilized by the cell for carrying out it's metabolism.

Explanation:

We all know that combustion produces carbon dioxide, water ,oxygen and energy . This can be seen very commonly when you burn something. Using this mechanism cell conbusts sugars for getting the energy required by them.
