Some Progressives feel that health care is a federal government responsibility and wanted a one payer system.

Explanation:

If health care is a basic human right as these progressives believe then the federal government should insure that everyone has health care. The ACA was designed to make sure that everyone could obtain health insurance. The ACA did increase the number of people who had access to insurance but insurance does not equal access to health care.

Many people with insurance due to the ACA were not able to use the insurance due to very high deductibles and a shortage of doctors and hospitals willing to accept the paltry payments provided by the insurance. Also while ACA increased the number of people with insurance there are still millions of people without insurance.

Those who feel that the ACA did not go far enough wanted a one payer system where the federal government takes complete responsibility for the health care of all people in the US
