Why does X inactivation happen?

Human females have two copies of identical X chromosome.
Hence , if anything is to be made ( say any protein ) from x chromosome , it will be made in double quantity because of two identical x chromosome.

That is why one of the X chromosome undergoes temporary inactivation , also called Lyonisation or Dosage compensation.
