Human being is a vertebrate. If we study a representative vertebrate it is easy to understand human anatomy and physiology.
Explanation:
Human beings are similar to vertebrate mammals.
The best example is rat. Most of the human systems like circulatory, nervous, respiratory, excretory systems of rat and human are similar.
The immunity system of rat and human are also similar.
The conduction of nerve impulses and hard wiring of brain is on the same footing.
Rats are easily available.
In a laboratory rats can be acclimatized and its reaction to drugs can be studied.
