Reproduction is necessary for the survival of a species (but not the individual)!

Explanation:

BOTH parts of a binary sexual reproductive system are equally important! Without either of them, the system as a whole will fail, causing extinction of the species.

Now, the reason a binary (or more) sexual reproductive system is better than a monary (asexual) one is a different question related to adaptation.
