I'd say it's important to have replicates in an experiment to make sure that you have similar results, or even same results.

Sometimes, your results might have changed after performing the experiment a second time, so you want to make sure that your results follow a correlation.

You might have to change some factors and variables, and also make sure to keep some variables constant for an experiment, so that they don't change the result!

On the other hand, if something goes wrong during the experiment, you can try to find out what went wrong, and then you can always try doing the experiment again!

Those are some examples I can think of.
