# What are the factors affecting chemical equilibrium?

Nov 17, 2017

See below.

#### Explanation:

Equilibrium is affected by :
1) Pressure
2) Temperature
3) Concerntration

Remember: CATALYST DOES NOT AFFECT THE EQUILIBRIUM IT JUST INCREASES THE RATE .

PRESSURE:
To increase the yeild , INCREASE the pressure ONLY if the LEFT side of the reaction has MORE NO.OF MOLECULES .
e.g: ${N}_{2}$ $+$ $3$${H}_{2}$ $r i g h t \le f t h a r p \infty n s$ $2$$N {H}_{3}$

So, left side has $4$ molecules and right has $2$ therefore you should increase pressure for increasing yeild.

TEMPERATURE:
To increase yeild , INCREASE the TEMPERATURE ONLY if the FORWARD reaction is ENDOTHERMIC .

CONCERNTRATION:

You can increase the yeild by removing the product formed.
