so basically with exposure therapy start out with a tiny spider, and work your way up. Depending on the severity of the agoraphobia, one might first start out with a tiny spider in a container, and the person with the fear holding the container. Then, maybe the tiny spider could be released and the person kills it. Then gradually expose the patient to a bigger and bigger spider, until they are comfortable enough to not have anxiety/adverse effects
What are some ways to cure agoraphobia?
Also adding to that answer, an underlying cause could be related to self esteem. I watched a ted talk video discussing internet addiction, and the speaker mentions that people with low self esteem become addicted to video games because they can create an alternate version of themselves. From creating an avatar, to gaining respect by being good at the game, it is like they live a separate, better life/version of themselves on a video game. This could be related to the dopamine release, as they feel better about themselves playing the game.
Why do people become so addictive to video games?
