- first you work out what is in the brackets
that is#1/3÷1/6# to give you 2 as you answer - second step rewrite the whole question replacing two in the place of
#1/3÷1/6# - so you will have
#3/4+2 - (-1/2)# - thirdly open the brackets with the negative sign outside the bracket that is:
# - (-1/2)# so that you get#+1/2# (or#1/2# , basically) - lastly rewrite the whole question
- so you will have
#3/4+2 +1/2# , you add all of them ...#3/4+8/4+2/4=13/4#
extra:
you can keep that solution, or you can change it from improper fraction to a mixed number
if you use long division,
#13\div4=3# with a remainder of#1# over#4# .
doing this by calculator you get 3.25, which is basically#3 25/100=3 1/4#
