# 3x + 3y = 15, color(white)("dd")3x - 5y = -41 what is the answer?

Apr 11, 2018

$y = 7 \mathmr{and} x = - 2$

#### Explanation:

Solve simultaneously

$3 x + 3 y = 15$ take $x$ common

$x = \frac{15 - 3 y}{3}$

Put value of $x$ in second equation
That is $3 x - 5 y = - 41$

So it will be: $\text{ } 3 \left[\frac{15 - 3 y}{3}\right] - 5 y = - 41$

Solve it and find $y$
$15 + 41 = 8 y \text{ that is } y = \frac{56}{8} \to y = 7$

Now in Any Equation put value 7 in place of $y$

Like $3 x + 3 \left(7\right) = 15$

So $x = - \frac{6}{3} \to x = - 2$

if you use 2nd equation it will be:
$3 x - 5 \left(7\right) = - 41$

$3 x = - 41 + 35$

$x = - 2$
