Molarity is a comparison of the moles of solute dissolved in a given volume of solution.

This equation is #Molarity = (mol of solute)/ (Liters of Solution)#

If we want to find the volume of a solution that is 12 M and contains 2.75 moles of HCl we would solve using the equation

#M = (mol)/ L#

M = 12 M
mol = 2.75 mol
L = ???

#M L = mol#

#L = (mol)/M#

#L = (2.75 mol) / (12 M)#

L = 0.229 L or 229 mL

I hope this was helpful.
