Organic refers to the area of chemistry that deals with all matter that contains the element carbon. However, there are some exceptions to the rule. For instance both carbon dioxide #CO_2# and carbon monoxide #CO# contain carbon but are not considered organic molecules.

Because of carbon's unique ability to bond in both rings and long chains, carbon provides the skeleton for many molecules essential in living organisms, like carbohydrates #(CH_2O)#, lipids #(CHO)# and proteins #(CHON)#. Carbon is also a major component in all petroleum, oil, gas and plastics.

Inorganic refers to the area of chemistry that deals with all matter that does not contain carbon.

I hope this was helpful.
