The median is the middle number in a sequence of numbers. Take the sequence #3, 6, 8, 1, 5, 8, 3, 4, 2#. In this sequence, the median is 4. To find the median, one must first put the numbers in order, then cross out the numbers one at a time until there is one number left, with an equal amount of integers on both sides.

If one were to do this with this sequence, one would find that the finished sequence is #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 8# and that the median, as stated above, is 4.

Let's take another example. With the sequence #6, 8, 9, 1, 8, 11, 7, 7, 3#, the steps taken to find the median would be: #1, 3, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9, 11#
and the median would be 7.
