Your statement is indeed not clear. Please use a proper notation.

If you want to calculate #f(k)=\frac{N}{2(2k+1)}# for #k=1#, then you need to substitute, and you have #f(1)=\frac{N}{2(2+1)}=\frac{N}{6}#.

If your function was #f(k)=\frac{N}{2} (2k+1)#, then (again by substitution) you have #f(1)=\frac{N}{2} (3)=\frac{3N}{2}#
