According to Wikipedia: Python is a widely used general-purpose, high-level programming language.
What does it have to do with Biology? It’s widely used in the scientific community and has features which make it easy to manipulate strings of characters (for example, strings of DNA bases and protein amino acid residues).
It is also used to set up a dictionary of terms and photos.
