I think you're actually referring to glyceryl-trinitrate, which is another name used for nytroglycerin.
Nytroglycerin, which has the molecular formula
Glyceryl-trinitrate is known as GTN for medical uses; the compound is used for treatment of angina, heart failure, or severe hypertension. There's a whole list of medical uses for GTN, so here's a link to a more detailed description of those uses:
