Paranoia. Really, EMF risks have been studied for a very long time now with no demonstration of real risk.
Explanation:
While people are always afraid of what they can't see, and especially of what they don't understand, it is difficult to convince people to understand risk assessment.
Of the known electromagnetic spectrum risks to humans, the most common, well-known, and IGNORED is excessive sun! Beyond immediate sunburn are long-term skin damage and a huge number of known cancer cases.
On the other hand, the purported "dangers" of Wi-Fi towers and electrical transmission lines have also been extensively researched and found to be unsubstantial. Special interests, quacks selling something, and general conspiracy theorists love to keep it alive though.
