I'm not certain what you mean by "together" but see if the following helps. (I am assuming that what you want is an example of two functions that can be combined to form another function).

If ${f}_{1} \left(x\right) = 2 x$
and
${f}_{2} \left(x\right) = 3 x + 1$

then
$g \left(x\right) = {f}_{1} \left(x\right) + {f}_{2} \left(x\right) = 5 x + 1$
represents a function

and
$h \left(x\right) = {f}_{1} \left({f}_{2} \left(x\right)\right) = 2 \left(3 x + 1\right) = 6 x + 2$
also represents a function.
