The elements such as Carbon, Iron, Oxigen, etc., were formed into stars and when the stars died they scattered around them across the universe.


A star is basically an enormous thermonuclear reactor that in order to function must fuse together lighter elements into heavier ones generating energy in the process:

So, basically, a piece of your nail was once inside a star!!!!!
