Rutherford discovered the nucleus.


Rutherford's gold foil experiment resulted in finding that atoms have a dense part at their centres called nucleus and that it contains the protons and neutrons.

This is after that J. J. Thomson describe the atom as a plum pudding where the negatively charged electrons swim in a positively charged atom body.
