Every object in the Solar System, the planets, the comets, the asteroids everything is in free fall motion towards the Sun. This is the Sun's gravity that is pulling everything in it, but on the other hand, its the orbital momentum of the objects that keeps them falling into the sun. In simple way, they are just traveling fast enough to constantly avoid it. The force of gravity weakens as the square of the distance as Newton proposed. After all this gravity is the weakest force when it is compared to other forces in the solar system.
