There is no universally agreed upon definition of whole number. Different sources may define the set of whole numbers to be equivalent to any of the following:

The natural numbers #NN = ZZ^+ = {1, 2, 3, ...}#

The nonnegative integers #ZZ^(>=0)={0, 1, 2, 3, 4, ...}#

The integers #ZZ = {..., -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, ...}#

As the term "whole number" is ambiguous, it is generally preferable to use one of the above terms, or explicitly define what you mean by "whole number" within your work.
