Human eye can see wave lengths from 300 to 700 manometers.These are visible light.>We can see a small portion of infra red also.

Explanation:

We see objects when they emit light or reflect light.If there is no light we can not see.
Regarding distance we can see there is no limit.Andromeda galaxy which is 2.5 million light years is visible. to naked eye.
