How do the ionization energies of the alkaline earths compare with those of the adjacent alkali metals?
Do you think you could quote some ionization energies, or do you expect us to dig for them?
In the absence of actual data, I would guess that the ionization energy of alkaline earth, i.e. the energy associated with the given reaction:
would be slightly greater than that of the corresponding alkali metal because its nuclear charge is greater (i.e.
