Quasar ( acronym for quasi-stellar) is a highly-energetic (seemingly a point) source of light, emitting powerful radio waves. from distances of millions to billions light years.
Appearing to be a point source of light to observers on the Earth, the size might be as large as that of nearer galaxies.
There are hundreds of thousands of quasars. The age of some of them is nearly the age of our, universe on the lower side.
It takes about 12 billion years for light to reach us, from some of these sources. It would be a wait for 12 billion years to know about the present status of these light sources.
